For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Is. 9:6). In about 740 BC, God called a prophet named Isaiah. Isaiah was at ease with kings. He consorted with the elite, the intellectual, and the ‘upper crust of the land. He began to prophesy. The tree of the kingdom had been cut down, but there would come out a new shoot. There was going to come one from the house of David who was going to become a king of Israel. A child would be born – a son would be given, and upon his shoulders would rest the government of the world forever, of his government and his kingdom there would be no end. He would rule forever. Jesus is the root of David, the stem of Jesse, the Way, and the Lamb slain from foundation of the world – crucified in Jerusalem, raised from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the throne of God – King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Who is Jesus? King! Who is this King of glory? Jesus! He shall reign forever and ever. Of the increase of his government there shall be no end. He shall be called, “Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Jesus is King! Is he King in your life at this moment? Have you surrendered your will as an obedient subject to the King? Have you yet done what the King said to do, by bringing your life to him? HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME OF REMEMBERING THE PURPOSE OF JESUS’ BIRTH!
